Peanut Gall’ry is Femme Salée’s ninth zine issue edited by Jazz Holmes. “Peanut gallery” is a racist term for large groups of Black people. This issue takes back this slur by comparing the importance & usefulness of the peanut plant to the integral nature of Black culture.
Soft Knife is F&S’s eighth zine issue edited by Ibby Ouweleen. The entries in Soft Knife ruminate on the glowing conviction that food is radical care. The pages weave together recipes, art, & writing that consider cooking as a means to move through grief with joy & ancestral foodways.
Velvet Rider is our seventh zine issue edited by Kevin Gibbs. Velvet Rider asks the question: what does queerness look like in parts of America no one really talks about? “The Velvet Rider” is someone who invokes the image of riding off into the frontier, fabulous in all their regalia.
Vague Force is Femme Salée’s sixth zine issue edited by Sam Grabowska, PhD. Vague Force is a collection of work from nine artists currently working in North America. All the works in this issue center around the body simultaneously constrained & emerging.
I’m Sorry is our fifth zine issue edited by Chelsea Kaiah. I’m Sorry is a space to explore apologies. It is a placeholder for conveying grief, trauma, or loss through art. It is also an incubator for those who have never received apologies to express their feelings & to reclaim their own narratives.
Cosmic Futures is Femme Salée’s fourth zine issue edited by Bryce Armijo. The contributors in this issue explore the positives & potentially dangerous negatives of the increasing encroachment of the “Metaverse” into our lived realities & everyday lives.
Eccentric Devotions is our third zine issue edited by Madeleine Boyson. Through art & writing, the contributors in this issue meditate on the ways in which faith, spirituality, or a lack or deconstructed form thereof, inform creative practice.
Perverse Bodies is Femme Salée’s second zine issue edited by Genevieve Waller. This zine issue is a meditation on what it means to have a “perverse body” as someone who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or non-binary.
Bad Health is our inaugural zine issue edited by m.g. bernard. Inspired by the Founder & Director’s bodymind experiences living with cystic fibrosis, the Bad Health issue features artworks & creative writings by artists/writers/creatives living with chronic illness(es). Contributors present works that demonstrate & reveal their private, daily lives as people living with “bad” health.
